Gunmen Friday attacked a convoy popular, controversial cleric Apostle Johnson Suleiman was traveling in.
The incident happened along Benin-Achi road in Edo state.
The police in Edo State have confirmed it.
Suleiman is safe and sound, spokesperson for the Edo State police command, Chidi Nwabuzor, said.
But three policemen and two civilian drivers attached to the prosperity preacher were killed in the attack.
One domestic worker was also killed while search is ongoing for a second domestic worker.
The police said the DPO of Auchi Division and his team mobilised to the scene of the incident on receipt of the information, adding that they killed one of the gunmen.
A manhunt for the fleeing ones is reportedly underway.
According to some sources, Suleiman was returning from an oversees trip when the gunmen struck.
