Two students of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), near Umuahia, have been found dead in their room.

According to an incident report released by the school, the lifeless bodies of the young men – Edeh Modecai Chinomso (registration number mouau/apr/19/105321) of the Department of Animal Production and Management (CASAP) and Victor Ukpai Eziukwu (registration number mouau/ emt/19/107338) of the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology (CNREM) – were discovered weekend inside their shared room in their hostel off campus: Wisdom Lodge just at the back of the university’s stadium.

One student was found dead on the bed while the other lay on the floor, spokesperson for the university, Adanma Odefa, said.

Their cause of death is unknown but the matter has been handed over to the police for further and proper investigations, the incident report added.

MOUAU only resumed last week for academic studies after Nigerian university teachers the week before called off the eight-month industrial action they embarked upon on Feb. 14.
