The police in Lagos have confirmed the death of Ifeanyi Adeleke – the three-year-old son of Afrobeats musician Davido.
Spokesperson for the Lagos police command of the Nigeria Police Force – Benjamin Hundeyin – told media outlet The Cable that some of the singer’s staffers were being questioned to determine who was culpable in the case.
He said: “There is not much to say. Some domestic staff members were brought in for questioning to find out what they know about it. Anybody found culpable or guilty of negligence will stay back and assist in the ongoing investigation.”
Although details of the circumstances surrounding Ifeanyi’s death are still sketchy, it was gathered that he drowned in the swimming pool at Davido’s Lagos island residence.
The boy was said to have been rushed to a hospital in Lekki where he was pronounced dead by doctors.
One report also said Davido and Chioma travelled out of town, leaving Ifeanyi under the care of a domestic assistant.
Davido is yet to make any official statement on this matter.
