Kidnap kingpin Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, and his co-defendant – Victor Aduba – Monday were sentenced to 21 years in prison for kidnapping one Sylvanus Hafia.

Evans and Aduba were accused of conspiring and kidnapping Hafia on June 23, 2014, at Kara Street, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos, detaining him and demanding a ransom of $2m.

Both men pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Ruling on the case, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Special Offences Court held the sentence would serve as a deterrent to other aspiring kidnappers.
