Three All Progressive Congress, APC, governors – all from the Southwest – today visited Rivers Gov. Nyesom Wike at his private residence in Port Harcourt where they held a closed door meeting him.
The governors are Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State.
Former Gov. Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State was also part of the meeting.
The details of the meeting were not disclosed but it may not be totally unconnected with next year’s general elections in Nigeria.
Wike is a chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party – PDP. Speculations are rife that he is unhappy after being passed over for the vice presidential ticket.
APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was said to have met with Wike in France last week but his media team has denied such a meeting ever took place.
