A lady seen in a recent viral video being beaten, stripped and hair-shaved under duress has allegedly confessed that it was all a joke.

The lady, now identified as 26-year-old Chinenye Agbo, is also known as Star Ella Ada.

The video, which outraged Nigerians, went viral on social media, prompting the Enugu State police command to say it was not buying the prank story and ordered further investigation into the matter.

The Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, said the police in its Nsukka Area Command on Aug. 14 identified and arrested 32-year-old Obed Chekwube Ugwuanyi (who’s also known as MC Sharp), Anastasia Onu, 26, and Agbo herself.

Ndukwe said the trio and others still at large were involved in the viral video wherein Agbo was seen being beaten, her cloth torn and stripped, and her hair forcefully shaved over allegation of beating and biting Anastasia, who’s Obed’s girlfriend.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that the trio is, however, claiming that the video, which has generated public outcry and condemnation due to the inconceivable assault, inhuman and degrading treatments meted out on Chinenye as seen in the video, is a prank and meant to garner followers on their social media accounts,” Ndukwe added.

Ahmed Ammani, Enugu State commissioner of police, condemned the act and charged the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department to thoroughly investigate the case with a view to prosecuting those found culpable so as to serve as a deterrent to anyone who may want to perpetrate such an act under the guise of a prank.
