Grade A Customary Court, Oja Oba, Mapo, Ibadan,Oyo State, has heard the evidence of a woman, Bola Dele, who was  dragged to court by her husband, Morufu Dele on the accounts of stubbornness and constant fight.

He told the court that he has had enough of his wife’s atrocities and therefore sought that their relationship be ended.

Bola was in court on the first day of sitting and pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against her.

She agreed to divorce.

“I met my husband through an intermediary who painted my husband as an angel.

“He told me my husband was a gentleman and that he could not hurt an ant.

“He also said he was religious.

“All the attributes he used in describing my husband made me to fall head over heels in love with him and I agreed to his proposal.

“He did not pay my bride price.

“The wool was pulled off my eyes immediately we started living together as husband and wife.

“I discovered all that our intermediary told me were lies.

“My husband started beating me a few days after I moved in with him.

“He got offended easily and would wait till it was night and beat me blue black.

“He beat me almost all the nights when our neighbours were already in bed and could not rescue me from his hands.

“Our family members mediated in our crises on many occasions, but he refused to change.

The last time we fought before he threw me out of his house, he tried to strangle me.

“He has refused to give our children feeding allowance since he threw us out.

“He pays our children’s school fees and also bought them new clothes during last sallah.

“My lord, I am also no longer interested in our marriage. I agree to divorce.

“I pray this honourable to make him responsible for our children’s upkeep.

The court president, Mrs S.M Akintayo adjourned judgment till February 29, 2024.
