The United Arab Emirates, UAE, Friday slapped a visa ban on Nigerian citizens seeking to travel to the Persian Gulf nation.

In a notice to its trading partners in Nigeria, including travel agents, the Emirati authorities wrote that “all Dubai applications submitted are now rejected.”

The visa rejections would be sent in batches to the applicants, the notice further reads, adding that the rejections “are general for Nigerians and approvals are on hold at the moment.”

There will be no refund for rejected applications.

“Kindly advise your clients to resubmit C2=A0 applications when the issue is resolved between both governments,” the notice declared.

The UAE has given no reason for this abrupt decision.
