Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court Thursday sentenced Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, to 16 years imprisonment.
Ijesha was facing six counts of child defilement, including indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault by penetration.
Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions argued the offences contravened Section 135, 137, 261, 202, 262 and 263 of the Lagos State Criminal Law 2015.
The law stipulates life imprisonment for offenders.
Ijesha pleaded not guilty to all the counts.
But a Closed-Circuit Television video recording – played in the court – proved otherwise and was used in convicting him.
